Colour
The Color panel holds one fill colour and one stroke colour at a time, with three ways to pick a shade and a history you can always fall back on.
The Color panel works with two colours at once: Color 1, a filled circle, is the fill; Color 2, a ring around it, is the stroke. Click either to make it the active slot. Everything below the two circles then edits that one colour.
Fill and stroke slots
A red diagonal line across a slot means that colour is not in use: the shape has no fill, or no stroke. It is drawn on a vector layer, where fill and stroke mean something, and not on a Raster or Pixel layer, where they do not. Swap exchanges Color 1 and Color 2, none included. The eyedropper next to them samples a colour by press-and-drag: a live preview follows the cursor, and the colour applies to the active slot on release.
Picking a colour
Three picker styles are available from the options menu: Square, the default, with a hue ring around an SV square; Triangle, with the SV area as a triangle that rotates with the hue; and Classic, a plain SV square over a hue bar. Whichever you choose is remembered.
Below the wheel, a Mode combo switches the value fields between HEX, RGB and HSV: HEX is one field with a hash prefix and commits only when you press Enter, while RGB (0 to 255 per channel) and HSV (hue 0 to 360, saturation and value 0 to 100) are live sliders.
Opacity
The opacity bar below the wheel is a chequerboard-to-solid ramp for the active colour's alpha, from 0 to 100%, with the current value shown alongside.
History and Favourites
Every colour you apply is added to the History strip, most recent first, up to 24 entries. Fully transparent colours are never recorded there. Favourites is a second, permanent strip you build yourself: the + button adds the active colour, up to 32 of them, and a middle-click on any favourite removes it.
Where a colour lands
Applying a colour writes it to whichever slot is active, on every selected Shape layer: Color 1 to the fill, Color 2 to the stroke, auto-keying the Fill Color or Stroke Color channel if that shape is animated. If a gradient stop is selected instead, the colour goes into that stop rather than replacing the whole fill or stroke; see Gradients.
The options menu
- Show History / Show Favorites / Show Opacity / Show Values: hide or show each strip
- Picker Style: Square, Triangle or Classic
- Copy Color / Paste Color: as a hex code; paste also accepts an 8-digit hex with alpha
- Clear History: empties the History strip
- Swap Fill/Stroke: the same action as the swap icon
- Add to Swatches: pushes the active colour into the Swatches panel
What persists
The Color panel saves itself automatically: the active slot, the HEX/RGB/HSV mode, which strips are shown, the picker style, both current colours, and the entire History and Favourites lists all survive a restart.
